Ilona and Brad: St Josephs Maronite, Ballast Park, Le Montage
Knowing we had St Josephs, Ballast Park and Le Montage ahead of us for the day, I knew we were in for a treat – except potentially for the weather. Now Sydney had had a bit of rain in recent days and fingers (& toes) were crossed for this day.
Over at the boys house, things were cruising along – weather was good, boys were getting ready and Brad wasn’t (to) nervous. This was the same family home his brother Andrew, four years earlier had started his wedding day, so there was a great sense of familiarity and tradition. The boys pulled themselves nicely together and we headed over to the girls.
As Ash and I were walking up to the house, mother nature let loose. Along came some cracking thunder and lighting, followed by what i call ‘fat rain’. But all good, no worries, there was blue skies on the horizon and it was heading our direction. The much softer skies arrives by the time Ilona needed to leave – but not first throwing as a curve ball of shutting down the power for a short while – that was fine because the best light was on the front porch and wow, did Ilona look amazing. I mean with all the buzzing going on around, she just shone – stunning dress, nice long vail, perfect makeup – Brad was going to it meltdown when she came down the isle. I especially loved the personal touch that the wedding dress maker was here on the day, adjusting and tweaking another wedding dress master piece – it was perfect on Ilona.
Of to the church and arrives the third season of weather for the day – bright warm sunshine – and getting hotter. Guests were ushered inside and this bride was ready to marry her man. The boys were looking sharp, the guests stood and the live music and singing echoed through the church as Ilona walked down the isle. From where I was standing, I could hear a few ‘gasps’ and ‘OMGs’ as Ilona and Brad saw each other – so beautiful!
Then off to the first of three locations – no mucking about – this girl had a mission. And rightly so as these location are amongst some of my favorites is Sydney. Ballast Park was our first stop as we weaved down the narrow streets of the Balmain/Birchgrove areas and by the time we arrived – the skies were picture blue – it teased us with a couple more drops of rain but it was a pour effort – the sun was here to shine! I mean check out the shots, Brad and Ilona looked spectacular against a mixed backdrop of blue skies, sandstone and epic trees.
A short drive over to Le Montage and the party was ready start. In came the bridal party to some traditional Lebanese tunes followed by the Bakers Boys who kept the party swinging throughout the night!
Awesome days guys, cheers, M
