Lauren and Jon: Chinese Gardens and Star Room Darling Harbour
Rocking up to the boys house in the morning, Jon answered the door with his trade mark smile. As I went to plant a firm hand shake hello, I was quickly reminded of Jon’s still tender busted right hand from a few weeks earlier. Lucky the fella was out of plaster for the wedding day, but a game of tag and firm back patting was out of the question – at least he still had his smile and a bunch of good blokes around him for the day.
After taking in a few pics and sweeping views of the water, off to the girls where hair and make-up by the ever wonderful team from Reel EFEX was in full swing. With champagne flowing, hair spray flying and another great set of images, we headed of to Darling Harbour.
Now Lauren likes to be on time and that she was. In fact a bit early beating a fair few guests to the Chinese Gardens – but that was cool as the girls kicked back in the Hummer to some funky tunes and cold champagne until the ranger arrived to escort the bridal car into the grounds.
Dad and bride were gleaming as they rounded the corner and walked down the isle to a waiting Jon. A beautiful ceremony by the ever wonderful Pauline Fawkner (my most favourite celebrant ;)) before heading into the gardens for a quick lap of location shots. This proved to be fair workout with me and all my gear, and Lauren in her dress and high heels – but she powered on like there was no tomorrow.
I wanted to get the last light of the day and that we did over the crest of Observatory Hill. With logistics and timing, it was prudent for me to travel in the limo with Lauren, Jon and the bridal party. Just my style with some pumpin’ tunes and quick review of the camera files lead to an impromptu image teaser back of camera for the couple. I love Observatory Hill as it catches the remaining light of the day often treating us to a wonderful sunset backdrop – this day did not disappoint.
A short drive later and we were back at Darling Harbour – into the Star Room where we rocked it till late. But shoppers – I know you want more…..
Lauren and Jon’s getaway was the Park Hyatt – stunning – so what better chance to wind down and have a few final pics on this fine evening water side in Campbell’s Cove. This was one of my favourite parts of the day (and no not because it was the end of 14 hours), but it was quiet, relaxing and the three of us could share a few reflections from the day. These two really planned a wonderful day and made me feel a very welcome part. So happy to have shared this day guys, cheers, M
