How to Tell if Your Wedding Photos Will be Awesome
So can you tell how your actual wedding photos will turn out?
It can be a bit tricky picking a wedding photographer but here are some tips: ask your photographer to show you an entire wedding collection from previous clients, rather than relying solely on a portfolio of ‘best’ shots you saw on their website.
You should also review blogs which show a variety of photos from the entire wedding day.
Many photographers only ever show portfolios on their websites, which comprise a collection of “best shots” from various weddings they’ve taken over time, perhaps over several years. These highlight images are often much more striking and interesting, but seeing a wider variety of photographs from a number of different weddings will give you a better idea of the photographer’s actual style.
Your chosen photographer should be happy to show you full collections of other couple’s weddings to put your mind at ease – starting from the pre-wedding ‘getting ready’ stage right through to departing the party.
And look out for these signs of a good photo collection when reviewing blogs:
- The quality of shots is consistent throughout the entire wedding day – from exposure to facial expressions and composition. It’s all good to have a few amazing location photos, but what you want is a quality full day collection of all the important moments.
- You can see a good variety of shots from different parts of the day. If you’re planning all-day coverage from the girls and boys getting ready right until you depart as husband and wife, you should ask to see a similar wedding collection.
- There should be harmony in the style of all the shots, otherwise your wedding album will look messy and confused.
